The History of F.D. Strano Sales
Since 1947, F.D. Strano Sales has been a family-owned and operated business, founded by Frank D. Strano Sr. Upon receiving his first construction experience serving his country as an engineer in WWII, Frank returned home to Ambridge. After seeing other soldiers also return home to start families build homes, and their futures, Frank got the idea to enter the window and door business. He accomplished this by taking a risk and starting his own company.
By the early 1960's F.D. Strano Sales had grown into a full-service remodeling business, including roofing, siding, awnings, in addition to, doors and windows. By the late 1960's the replacement industry was born, with the introduction of custom built windows designed to fit into existing openings. This added a whole other realm to his remodeling business.
In 1972, Frank's son Bob recognized this and joined the company. During that time F.D. Strano Sales transformed from that full-service remodeling business into a company that solely specialized in windows and doors. A few years later, the transformation was completed with the addition of Four Seasons Sunrooms being offered.
Today, F.D. Strano Sales has become the leader in the sunroom and window business in the tri-state area. Our friendly staff (pictured from right to left) include: Bob Strano - Owner; Diane Brown – Senior Window Consultant; Scott McCall – no longer employed with us; Gary Pugh - Sunroom Installer; Tracey Murphy - Office Manager; Bob Piltz - Window Production Manager; Diana Lois - Event & Marketing Coordinator; Bob Szopo – Senior Sunroom Consultant; Harry Pollock - Sunroom Production Manager (not pictured). Strano's Employee of the Month - Harry Pollock
We have had the pleasure of having Harry Pollock as part of F.D. Strano Sales for almost twelve years. It was in 1995 when Harry joined as an installation helper, and has since worked his way up to being the Sunroom Production Manager. His attention to detail and ability to problem solve with the greatest of ease make him a true asset to our team. No matter how busy, Harry will always take time to answer all of your questions and help you in any way that he can. His role among the F.D. Strano Sales team, as Sunroom Production Manager, consists of measuring the dimensions of the addition, ordering, keeping the home owner informed on their project, scheduling installation, coordinating and managing the installers, as well as following up with the home owner making sure they are totally satisfied. Many people depend on him and his thoroughness.
Harry is also a trusted member of the Army Reserves, which he joined after graduating from Ambridge Area High School. He has bravely toured Iraq, while leaving behind his beautiful wife of six years, Heather, and their adorable little girl, Devon. During his deployment, Harry served his country with great courage and honor, thus earning The Army Commendation Medal. He also adorns other numerous ribbons for his military accomplishments. F.D. Strano Sales proudly displays awards, certificates, and a military issued flag dedicated to both Harry, as well as Bob Strano for their sacrifices during Harry’s active duty. Needless to say Harry’s family and friends were ecstatic when he finally returned home – safe and sound, hopefully never to leave us again.
When Harry isn’t working, or giving up his one weekend a month, two weeks a year, you can find him on the golf course. He also enjoys hunting while spending time at his camp, near Dubois, Pennsylvania with his father. Harry relaxes by spending time with his family, and especially enjoys clowning around with Devon. To no surprise, Harry is a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.
When you ask Harry what he’s most proud of he shyly looks away and says he doesn’t know. He is far too modest to begin naming is attributions. That may be the case, however, F.D. Strano Sales can sincerely say that we’re proud of him, his accomplishments, and all that he’s done to help make Strano’s what it is today. Thanks Harry!!
